Termite Control
February through October, three species behaving differently, and a contract whose renewal fee matters more than its headline…
Learn about Termite ControlA coastal community with no real dry season to speak of. Termites stay active straight through winter, and anything metal used to seal a building corrodes quickly unless it was chosen for salt air to begin with.
Panacea is a small coastal community on Ochlockonee Bay, strung along US 98 with salt marsh, creeks and open water close on most sides. Coastal conditions run the pest calendar here more than anything a homeowner does. Humidity stays high, the water table is shallow, and subterranean termites work without the slow season an inland property gets, so wood near grade and any structure with a damp underside deserves a shorter inspection interval than most people are used to. Salt marsh mosquitoes are heavy through the warm months and travel a long way, which limits what yard treatment can honestly promise. Rodents work the waterfront, the boats and storage, the palms and the trees near buildings. As with anywhere this close to salt water, exclusion done in ordinary materials fails quickly, so screening, mesh and fixings need to be chosen for corrosion rather than for price if the work is meant to last.
Subterranean termite swarms in this part of the Southeast follow warm, humid spring weather, roughly February through May each year.
Renovation history is the wildcard on Panacea properties, where the stock is older coastal frame houses and cottages alongside newer elevated construction near the water. A finished room under an old house, or an addition poured up against an existing slab, usually hides the original outside wall and whatever gap nobody closed when the work was done.
Being close to Ochlockonee Bay, Dickerson Bay and the coastal salt marsh means the outside of a building takes a beating. Trim swells, sealant lets go, a threshold stops meeting the door, and each of those opens a gap too small to notice and wide enough to use. Exclusion work pays for itself around Panacea for that reason.
High coastal humidity with no real dry season, which keeps termites working all year and corrodes anything used for exclusion that was not chosen for salt air. Short, mild winters and long humid stretches mean the licensed pros we connect you with stay busy around Panacea for most months of the year.
A crawl space under an older Panacea house takes longer to inspect and treat than a slab of the same size does.

It is worth it for the yard and it will not touch the marsh, and you should hear both parts before you decide. Treatment reduces adults resting in the shaded parts of your planting through the day and removes water you control, which makes a usable difference in the space around the house. Salt marsh mosquitoes breed across a huge area and fly well, so the pressure returns. Screening and airflow on a porch do more here than they would inland.
It helps with flood and it helps a little with termites, and it does not remove the problem. Termites reach elevated structures by building tubes up piers, pilings and utility runs, and any point where a stair, a deck, a storage enclosure or a set of steps touches the ground is a route. The underside being open and visible is a real advantage, because tubes can be found by looking, and that only helps if somebody actually looks. An annual walk of the underside is the cheapest protection an elevated house has.
Coastal Wakulla addresses along the US 98 corridor are covered. It is fair to say that this is a drive from Tallahassee, so a routine visit gets scheduled rather than fitted in the same day. Tell whoever you call what the problem actually is, because an active swarm, bed bugs or a rodent in the living space gets treated differently from a routine perimeter service.
The eastern copperhead turns up in this part of north Florida in a way it does not through most of the state. Anyone with a wooded lot around Panacea has a reason to ask about snake activity that a homeowner further south simply does not, so it is worth raising when you book.
